My plan will grow Pennsylvania’s economy by creating 35,000 new green-collar jobs. I support targeted investments and small business loans to grow our local economy.

The state legislature approved a plan to cut property taxes in every county in the state EXCEPT Philadelphia. This is bad for Philadelphia, especially for seniors who live on a fixed income and will never benefit from rising property values. The state must fix this plan and give Philadelphia the property tax relief that it so badly needs.

Property taxes are out of control—state government must do more to relieve this burden. That’s why I support the creation of a new, permanent equitable school funding formula that both eliminates the property tax burden on homeowners and provides every school with the funding it needs to meet academic requirements for students. I will fight for a homestead exemption that permanently eliminates property taxes for seniors.

I will work with Governor Rendell to lower gas pricesand create market-demand for improved fuel economy. I support converting thousands of state owned cars to hybrid vehicles, guaranteeing that energy companies have a major consumer for alternative fuel.
